DowntimeBetween games you have 30 days to allocate amongst your downtime actions. Please note, you do not need to allocate days to feeding (unless you need to feed more than normal for some reason). Each player should submit a downtime form between each event. Each ‘day’ that is put towards an action is one die that will be added to the action. The difficulty is determined by the Storytellers, depending on the action being done. Any dice equal to or higher than the difficulty are a success. Any lower are failures. Any ones are botches. Every ‘botch’ will remove one success. If after the roll you still have successes left, you succeed to some extent (the more successes, the better the return). If you have no successes and no botches, you fail to gain anything. If you have more botches than successes, something goes wrong. The difficulty of each action can be reduced two ways. The difficulty will be reduced by one if you have an ability that is appropriate to the action. The difficulty can also be reduced by one if you spend one point of a background appropriate to the action. Examples: John Smith is using 15 days to acquire an item from a store that has decent security. He states he will be using his Security ability & his Police Influence to obtain it. The random rolls are not great but due to the large amount of days John put in towards the theft, enough die come up with successes to have him succeed. Amy Brown is using 1 day to acquire an item from a store that has decent security. She states she will be using her Brawl ability to obtain it. If the roll is a success she may smash the door down and obtain the item with some officers to deal with afterwards. If the roll is a fail she will not get the item and have some issues to deal with later. If the roll is a botch (1), it will very likely turn out very poorly for Amy. In the future she may wish to allocate more time to her efforts. The more detail you put into your downtime actions, the more likely they are to proceed in a manner that you anticipate. Example: John Smith wants to increase his Street Influence by gaining a reputation amongst the street fighters in the city. He says he will be using his Brawl ability to enter fights and make a name for himself as he continues to win tournaments. If the random aspects go well for him he will obtain some street influence in this fashion. Amy Brown says she will be increasing Street Influence with Brawl, but goes into no further details as to how. The storytellers decide she is increasing Street Influence by randomly beating people into submission. If the random aspect comes out well for her, this still may gain her some Street Influence; however it may not be in the fashion she would have liked. It may also gain her the attention of local authorities! *Note: You can also gain one aditional xp if you submit a game report by the downtime due date. Downtime submissions are due by 11:59 pm the Friday one week before game (i.e. If game takes place on Saturday April 28, downtime submissions are due Friday April 20 by 11:59 pm). |
